At the end of every school year, many books are returned in pretty rough shape. Most of the time they can be repaired without going to the expense of a full replacement. Sometimes they require a variety of repairs in order to return them to a usable condition for the next class. They may need new hinges or they might simply need new endsheets to clean them up and make them presentable. Shown above, are before and after photos of a torn headcap that has been repaired.
